INTRODUCTION
This page is my attempt to record details about the 6-a-side football team that was S.O.N.Y. Athletic who played in one of the many Pitch Invasion leagues. A complete menu of items on can be found at the top of this page - Click on the Top button to get back to the menu.
I was unfortunate to have joined the team several months after its formation in September 1999 and as such I don't have records that go right back to the start. However, when I first started playing for the team I recorded results and other statistics, these figures are compiled on this page. Sadly, after many months of struggling to make up numbers and keep a full team going it was decided to call it a day at the end of Season 34. Having played something like 230 to 240 games, Wednesday 2nd February 2005 saw S.O.N.Y. play their last game thus ending over 5 years of playing almost every week.

Of the list of players who made an appearance for S.O.N.Y. there are several that stand out... Only 2 players from the original 9 were still playing for the team at the very end: Mike and Pete Browning. The next longest serving player was Richard Burke. Mike and Pete Browning played in every season while Richard Burke missed playing in just 3 seasons. These 3 players probably put in over 200 appearances each. Some way behind them is Derek Haselden who has managed to put in 134 appearances, 132 as goalkeeper.
According to records the most regular player in the team was Mike Browning who played in 90% of all games. Mike also managed some 48 consecutive appearances without a break. Some way behind that record is Pete Browning who managed 37 consecutive games, and then Derek Haselden who once played 34 consecutive games. Other notable sequences are: Phil Masters 17 games, Richard Burke 17 games, and Wayne Shakespeare 16 games.

Comments.
Pete Browning, S.O.N.Y.'s most prolific goalscorer, never went more than 5 games without being on target. According to records he twice managed to score 7 goals in a game, 5 goals in a game, and twice managed to score 4 goals in a game. Along the way he notched up some 22 hat tricks and 28 braces. On 4 occasions he played and scored in 5 consecutive games, in one of these instances scoring 11 goals.
However, the greatest strike rate is held by Dale Vaughan who managed to score in all but one of the games he played for S.O.N.Y. In 26 games he scored 79 times. On one occasion he played and scored in 4 consecutive games and scored 16 times. In his 26 games he managed to score 5 goals in a game on 7 occasions.
Pete Browning scored 22 hat tricks; Dale Vaughan 16; Mike Smith 4; Simon Toop and Richard Burke 2; Danny Winch, Ian Gundry, Mike Welland, and Lee Rich 1 each. Pete Browning has managed to score hat tricks in 2 consecutive games on 2 occasions. Dale Vaughan managed to play and score a hat trick in 4 consecutive games.
The longest individual goal drought was endured by Mike Browning who went 28 games without scoring. Phil Masters went 20 games without scoring. Of course, this comes nowhere near Derek Haselden who successfully avoided scoring a goal in 78 hours of play - impressive!
Irrespective of the above remarks, ALL goals were valuable, well done to those who found the net at some point.
