This page has been provided to publicise some news about the astronomy related items, namely interesting or noteworthy astronomical events taking place in 2009. The items listed here are by no means exhaustive since astronomy is very represented by many other websites - it is not my intention to overly duplicate that material.
There now follows a list of some of the interesting astronomical events that take place in the year 2009. The list was compiled mainly with the Southampton, UK area in mind but most items will apply to many other parts of the world as well. However, many seasonal items like the longest and shortest days will only apply to Northern Hemisphere observers. All times listed are UT (GMT). New and Full Moon's are marked with bold text.
