Above is a list of 'jump to' links which will take you to specific sections of this page. Please bear in mind that some of the material will be specific to local (to the Society, that is) observers although some items will be valid for all observers worldwide.
ASTRONOMICAL EVENTS IN 2008
There now follows a list of some of the interesting astronomical events that take place in the year 2008. The list was compiled mainly with the Southampton, UK area in mind but most items will apply to many other parts of the world as well. However, many seasonal items like the longest and shortest days will only apply to Northern Hemisphere observers. Sunrise and sunset times are listed for the Southampton, UK area. All times listed are UT (GMT). New and Full Moon's are marked with bold text.
